Sticks and stones may...make good jewelry?

Twiggy

Stay Golden

The Next Big Thing

I promise you, red tights are going to be everywhere this season.

Bright and unexpected, this is the way to turn heads.

I especially love how Built by Wendy used red lipstick with the red tights, it makes the color seem more natural and less concentrated on the bottom of the outfit.

"If you were a mermaid, I was the sea"

"Maybe i would become a mermaid... i would live in the swirling blue-green currents, doing exotic underwater dances for the fish, kissed by sea anemones, caressed by seaweed shawls. I would have a doliphin friend. He would have merry eyes and thick flesh of a god. My fingernails would be tiny shells and my skin would be like jade with light shining through it. I would never have to come back up"

"...choose to believe in your own myth
your own glamour
your own spell
a young woman who does this
(even if she is just pretending)
has everything...."

"Wish on everything."

Webcam Inspiration

How cute is this video?

SO CUTE. Doesn't it just make you want to run out, buy a webcam, get in touch with a bunch of other cool strangers with webcams, and be super creative?
... or is that just me?

Marccccc #2

I posted last time about my love for Marc by Marc Jacobs, so then I figured I should show a few examples of what I was talking about (in addition to that AMAZING fashion show)

Marccccc

LOVELOVELOVE these pictures by NYLON of the Marc by Marc Jacobs show.

http://www.nylonmag.com/index.php?section=album&albid=328

The other day I went to Bloomingdale's, and just about died in the Marc by Marc Jacob's section.

Porquoi?
(Why?)
Parce que....
(Because...)
The awesome colors
The splashy designs
The mix of fun/playful/creative
The lines, I'm not sure why, his designs just seem very linear to me
The cleaness of his designs
The font...yes, the actual Marc Jacob's font...I love it

And here is the video of the fabulous Spring 2010 collection! I am loving the colors and mismatched patterns, the models all look like they come from an amazingly sophisticated kindergarden class in a dr. seuss book...the creative energy is absolutely incredible.

Harem Pants?

First I hated them...

but now I think I've decided I want a pair.

I should say that I definitely think the newer versions of them are better. With more elastic at the bottom so it's runched, and in capri style...I think the pants are just too much fabric falling everywhere.

Anyways...here are 2 I found I like!

Fall Fabulousness!

Dear Mr. Weatherman,

Can you please help me out?

I want it to be fall....now. I am tired of teeshirts, shorts, heat...ughh. I want layers, shirts and vests and sweaters and tights and all of that gorgeousness.

Here are some pictures to help convince you of the cuteness that is to come...

Soooo adorable! I've been lusting after these for AGES, they're so fab.

I LOVE THESE TIGHTS!

Parkrose Vintage
Crocheted cardigans and vests are stealing my heart

Free People
Love the layers! The colors here work so well, with the purple for a bit of color against the grays.

Stewart+Brown

I absolutely loovveee the way the layering was done here. The darker colors with splashes of red with both the hat and the tights looks fabulous and unique.

Thanks Mr. Weatherman!

Swoon!

There's that one book by Sarah Dessen, where one of the characters is constantly going "sah-wooon" when she talks about falling in love. That word has always seemed so awesome to me, so dramatic, so extravagant...so when I found out about the American graffiti artist, "Swoon" I had to look more into her, and when I saw her work...I was blown away.

I love these cutouts!

The tiny details in this picture are incredible!

Isn't it incredible how realistic this face looks? The emotion in the eyes is so striking.

Also, this is a fabulous video on an installation she did at Honey Space. I've literally watched this video everyday for a week now, I love looking at the flickering candles, the beautiful wall art, just the way everything is arranged is so amazing.

Also, this was a great interview I found (yay google!) from SWINDLE Magazine.

Jump for Jumpers!

I can't quite remember when I first started obsessing over jumpers and overalls. I remember wearing overalls ALL THE TIME as a kid, I even had a ridiculous pair in first grade that were pink and corderoy. crazy.

But more recently, a more sophisticated version of these kiddy favorites have been appearing all over! I'm still looking to buy a jumper, but I did find a pair of amazing Chip & Pepper overalls this summer that I finally wore to school today. It's so exciting to wear something nobody else is walking down the halls in!!

So now instead of doing my math (ughhh), I'm jumper shopping! Here's a few of my favorites....

Veer-Zaara

I love Bollywood.
Seriously.

The music, the amazing lines that they'd never say in an American film, the colors, everything is just so beautiful and exotic and unique.

Today I saw the movie
Veer-Zaara

It's basically a love story, but it's told with such gorgeous pictures and statements, and I just loved every moment of it.

This is a song from the beginning of the movie...

Wouldn't you love to take a bath in rose petals?

It doesn't have subtitles, but she's saying in this song how she isn't going to change for anybody (she's about to get married into an arranged marriage) and she's going to stay herself.

Then this video is from when they're celebrating Lodi...

Look at the colors!

I find that so inspiring, to see how bright and vibrant the clothing is. And the detailing on some of the head scarves is absolutely incredible, like the flowers on the blue and yellow...
