Fall Fabulousness!

Dear Mr. Weatherman,

Can you please help me out?

I want it to be fall....now. I am tired of teeshirts, shorts, heat...ughh. I want layers, shirts and vests and sweaters and tights and all of that gorgeousness.

Swoon!

There's that one book by Sarah Dessen, where one of the characters is constantly going "sah-wooon" when she talks about falling in love. That word has always seemed so awesome to me, so dramatic, so extravagant...so when I found out about the American graffiti artist, "Swoon" I had to look more into her, and when I saw her work...I was blown away.

I love these cutouts!

The tiny details in this picture are incredible!

Isn't it incredible how realistic this face looks? The emotion in the eyes is so striking.

Also, this is a fabulous video on an installation she did at Honey Space. I've literally watched this video everyday for a week now, I love looking at the flickering candles, the beautiful wall art, just the way everything is arranged is so amazing.

Jump for Jumpers!

I can't quite remember when I first started obsessing over jumpers and overalls. I remember wearing overalls ALL THE TIME as a kid, I even had a ridiculous pair in first grade that were pink and corderoy. crazy.

But more recently, a more sophisticated version of these kiddy favorites have been appearing all over! I'm still looking to buy a jumper, but I did find a pair of amazing Chip & Pepper overalls this summer that I finally wore to school today. It's so exciting to wear something nobody else is walking down the halls in!!

So now instead of doing my math (ughhh), I'm jumper shopping! Here's a few of my favorites....

Veer-Zaara

I love Bollywood.
Seriously.

The music, the amazing lines that they'd never say in an American film, the colors, everything is just so beautiful and exotic and unique.

Today I saw the movie Veer-Zaara

It's basically a love story, but it's told with such gorgeous pictures and statements, and I just loved every moment of it.

This is a song from the beginning of the movie...



Wouldn't you love to take a bath in rose petals?

It doesn't have subtitles, but she's saying in this song how she isn't going to change for anybody (she's about to get married into an arranged marriage) and she's going to stay herself.

Look at the colors!

I find that so inspiring, to see how bright and vibrant the clothing is. And the detailing on some of the head scarves is absolutely incredible, like the flowers on the blue and yellow...

New Year!

Happy new years everybody! I hope this year is a good one for all of us...and I hope to start actually posting more (New Years Resolution #3, actually!) again. I'm so excited to be starting with this fresh slate, and so ready to keep changing the world.

INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY!

15 minutes until international human rights day...YAY!

There are a million causes that one can take on tomorrow, but one action I really would love to highlight because it is definitely one of my passions is the cause of current genocides in today's world. It is totally shocking and mind blowing that such atrocities are still allowed to occur in today's world. And I personally have made a dedication to myself, and to every person living in a refugee camp, every person who has died that I will work my hardest and do what I need to help end this genocide. Not just for them, but for future generations.

We are the example. Let's set a good one.

Let's change this world

Great movie. Makes you think...

Personally I believe that love is totally the wrong thing to oppose. We should be fighting hate, fighting discrimination, fighting what makes people feel less than who they are. Making people feel guilty, shameful, embarrassed, because they cannot be honored with the same rights as straight people...I honestly can't even understand how people can do that. I do understand there are different reasons, and I don't want to judge people who voted in favor of Prop 8, because I know they aren't all the same, and I would hate to have my personal reasons mislabeled by people who want acceptance for all.

But I do think that those who voted in favor of Prop 8 should really look at the reasons they voted yes. Think about if the reasons are really worth the amount of pain that is coming from those who simply love each other and yet are being told they should not. Look at the faces of your friends, your neighbors who are married. Could you look them in the eyes and tell them their love is wrong? Because of a reason as superficial as their hair color, their clothing, their race? Look at all the information. Look at why your views are what they are, and be absolutely sure it is because of what you think, and not because of anybody else. And if you can evaluate all of that, and still stand strongly by your beliefs, then I respect you.
