I'm oddly drawn to the first image of the orb dress. The matirial is so intriguing, the way it seems to hover and float reminds me almost of an egg white...that sort of movement and flow. The collection was said to be inspired by the moon, which I find interesting, because it reminded me slightly of McQueen's Spring 2010 collection, which was inspired by a water theme. I'm sensing a kind of fusion between nature and "the future" in fashion recently, almost as though it is reflecting the world's current question of nature's place in our very technology driven society. It's as though some designers were trying to bring us back to those roots (haha, roots, like trees, like nature...sorry, I love bad puns), but in a new, experimental, 80's perception of the future sort of way. All very interesting though, I like it.

It's a love story, baby just say yes.

So I fell in love with this picture before I realized that these two were a part of that *ahem* interesting *ahem* closing of the Chanel show. For those who haven't heard, it was basically the implications of a threesome on the runway as Karl Lagerfeld walked out at the end...which I actually think is interesting. First there's the whole idea of Marie Antoinette, which is a very fascinating and clever inspiration in these economic times. Then these unexpected "sexual undertones" as style.com worded it in their video about the show. I think it foreshadows what's to come, just as the 60's had their period of liberation during troubling times, we will also be liberated by the recession and everything that's going on.
